World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Refugee Program

The Camosun chapter of WUSC started as as club for a sociology class project and has welcomed one WUSC student to Camosun each year since September 2016. Thanks to all of the students who voted overwhelmingly in favour of the student refugee program levy in the fall of 2015 to support this program, which out which we would not be able to welcome these students.

WUSC is an international non-government-organization based out of Ottawa. The organization’s main goal is to provide education for refugees around the world. The Student Refugee Program (SRP) brings students over from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East to study within Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Camosun International also supports this initiative by providing funding for the students’ classes, accepting their admissions, offering support services and including them in the homestay program.
