Club description
The Camosun chapter of WUSC started with a group of four passionate students in January of 2015. The group initially formed as a CCSS club and sociology class project with Dr. Francis Adu-Febiri and Dr. Francis Yee.
Camosun College welcomed the first WUSC student in September 2016. One WUSC student has come to study at Camosun each year since then. We are delighted to welcome the fourth WUSC student at Camosun in September 2019.
The WUSC Camosun chapter thanks all the students who voted overwhelmingly in favour of the student refugee program levy in the fall of 2015. Without the successful referendum, the program would not be able to welcome these students.
WUSC is an international non-government-program based out of Ottawa. The organization’s main goal is to provide education for refugees around the world. The Student Refugee Program (SRP) brings students over from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East to study within Canadian post-secondary institutions.
Camosun International also supports this initiative by providing funding for the students’ classes, accepting their admissions, offering support services and including them in the homestay program.
