Camosun Students for Environmental Awareness
Rachelle Provençal
Camosun Students for Environmental Awareness (CSEA) has reorganized for the year and will be promoting college-wide involvement in making a difference on campus and in the community.
We are a small group of eager activists with a variety of interests who are working to change Camosun's environmental policies.
A number of projects are being undertaken, and first on our list is a paper campaign. We are researching ways to reduce the overall paper consumption on campus and ensure post-consumer paper is used as extensively as possible.
Part of our strategy is to network with student organizations from other institutions in order to be as effective in accomplishing our goals as possible.
We are also lining up a series of films and discussions, which we hope will provoke enthusiastic responses from students at both campuses.
If there are any hot environmental topics you would like to discuss and find out about, please let us know. The first film will be an inspiring documentary about the women who protested at Clayoquot Sound.
Plans are also being made for a Sustainability Day. We're hoping to arrange several workshops that will focus on sustainable living.
If you have any concerns or observations about the environment on campus or elsewhere, please let us know. Our meetings are held on Mondays from 12-1 p.m. in Library Room C (upstairs), Lansdowne, and we welcome your input.
